Despite notable economic and social progress in Indonesia, food insecurity, as well as child and maternal under-nutrition remain persistent challenges. In the past three years, the prevalence of stunting has increased from 35.6% to 37.2% nationwide, with much higher levels in the eastern provinces, such as East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and West Papua.

LatarBelakang: Indonesia salah satu negara yang sering kali mengalami bencana sehingga disebut “Supermaketof Disaster”. Upaya penanggulangan bencana memerlukan banyak sumber daya manusia (SDM) dari berbagai sektor profesional, termasuk dokter. Bencana alam dan bencana karena ulah manusia, termasuk serangan terorisme, dapat terjadi dan memerlukan tenaga dokter. Tidak menutup kemungkinan bahwa dokter akan diminta untuk memimpin upaya pertolongan pertama di daerah mereka bekerja sampai dengan bantuan lainnya berdatangan. Sebagian besar dokter belum pernah mendapatkan pelatihan secara formal dalam bidang ini. Tanpa pengalaman dan pelatihan, tidak mungkin seorang dokter dapat melaksanakan tugas ini dengan baik.

Good Governance in Health System: International Dimension

Health is a basic human right, and must be available and accessible to all peoples in an affordable framework. Promoting good governance and fairness in the health sector through meaningful and consistent emphasis on prompt delivery, equitable and professional services, transparency and accountability must become a cardinal principle of the health sector reform. The question is: what is internationally adopted paradigm of good governance in health system and development? How should we conduct health sector reform, especially in health system to be consistent with the international dimension of good governance? This paper examines at factual evidence to describe the main challenges facing health system in developing countries, especially in Indonesia.
