Seminar Nasional – CONTRACEPTIVE TECHNOLOGY UPDATE 2010 22 Juni 2010 Akreditasi IBI & IDI Pendahuluan Teknologi kontrasepsi berkembang sangat pesat dalam waktu tiga dasawarsa terakhir ini. Standarisasi pelayanan kontrasepsi secara nasional dan oleh Badan Internasional (misal: WHO) telah diterbitkan secara berkala. Sayangnya, perkembangan tersebut tidak selalu diikuti dengan cermat oleh para petugas kesehatan dan keluarga berencana di Indonesia. Berbagai kontroversi timbul dalam perkembangan teknologi kontrasepsi selama ini, khususnya mengenai dampak negatif penggunaan kontrasepsi bagi wanita dalam jangka panjang. Banyak berbagai pertanyaan yang diajukan tentang berbagai risiko negatif penggunaan kontrasepsi, tetapi sangat sedikit penyampaian informasi tentang dampak positif kontrasepsi kepada kesehatan reproduksi wanita. Padahal, kontrasepsi tidak hanya memiliki dampak negatif, tetapi memiliki dampak positif seperti mencagah jenis kanker tertentu dan anemia yang seringkali dijumpai pada wanita di Indonesia.
